Jake K. – Hillel Jerusalem, Summer 2019

“This summer I am interning for the Center for Near East Policy Research. I feel so fortunate to be spending my summer in Israel learning practical skills and applying the knowledge from my major. My internship is super hands on and I am so glad that I get to interact with people living in Jerusalem. However, there is a lot more to Onward than just working. So far, even though I have been here for less than a week, we have done so much fun activities and traveling it’s incredible. Last Thursday, we were able to go on a tour of Jerusalem and our neighborhood led by our (fabulous) Madrich, Avi. Friday, we got to experience Tel Aviv Pride and go to the beach, and we also had a potluck shabbat dinner hosted by one of the apartments on our program. We went to Machene Yehuda/the shuk, explored Ben Yehuda street, and did a scavenger hunt throughout the holy (and beautiful) city of Jerusalem. Also, it is a super nice perk living so close to Bibi Netanyahu’s house.
Even though it has been less than a week, we have already done so much that I cannot wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store for us. My internship is incredible, my apartment is so nice, and there is nothing like living in Jerusalem.”
