• Yahel Israel Service Corps

Spend this winter break in Israel doing meaningful work with Arab communities in the North of Israel. During this 4 week community based service program you will volunteer alongside Druze young adults in different Druze communities. This is a unique opportunity to get to know the Druze community, learn/practice Arabic, gain experience working with children and learn about community based social change work in Israel.

Yahel is partnering with Onward Israel in initiating the Israel Service Corps  – a 4 week service learning program based in the North of Israel.  The service program will invite diaspora young adults to experience Israel through the lens of social change while gaining hands-on experience working with children and youth. The programs will be built together with Horizons for the Future s and will include Israeli Druze youth and young adults who will join together with the international volunteers in support of local community initiatives. Yahel will collaborate with Horizons for the Future to identify needs, design the group projects to be implemented and recruit local participants.

The program will be based in the Carmiel area and include 30 volunteers – 20 international volunteers and 10 Israeli volunteers.

The program will include the following components:

~Week 1: orientation, getting to know each other, learning about the local communities & building of the volunteer activities together.
~Week 2: Volunteering in local schools and youth programs in one of the villages. Activities will include teaching English & other educational activities.
~Week 3: Volunteering in local schools and youth programs in second village
~Week 4: Volunteering in local schools and youth programs in third village + closing & goodbye

This Onward Israel program is operated through a partnership between the Onward Israel, Yahel & Shalom Corps. It is organized by Yahel.
