    Escape the winter in Israel! Onward Israel is an immersive internship program offering resume building placements in a wide variety of opportunities in Tel Aviv.  Develop your professional future and build your resume through a high-level internship in the field of your choice.


    Live, work, and play on the Mediterranean! The Onward Israel Winter Internship program in the bustling start-up city of Tel Aviv offers you the opportunity to develop your professional future and build your resume through a high-level internship experience.

    During this Tel Aviv-based internship program, you are placed in a work environment based on your skills, interests and future plans. You will intern four to five days a week, and immerse yourself in contemporary Israeli society through, Israel touring days, group activities, a Shabbatons and more.  These program days will include visits to local NGOs and explorations of contemporary Israeli culture, environment, and politics.

    Participants on Onward Israel – Masa programs may return to Israel on long-term Masa programs after Onward Israel. They may also be eligible for additional scholarships from Masa to help fund their participation, although the size of that scholarship may be influenced by prior participation on Onward Israel.     This Onward Israel – Masa program is operated through a partnership between the Beacon and Shapira Foundations and other leading philanthropists, and Masa Israel Journey. It is organized by Sachlav.

    Important Information

    January 8 – March 3, 2020

    Apartments or dorm-style housing in Tel Aviv.

    The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program.  While meeting common standards, Onward Israel housing differs by program and even within a program.     Cost includes a modest food stipend, lodging, insurance, local transportation and program costs.

    The actual cost of the Onward Israel program is much higher, and is subsidized up to 70% by Onward Israel private donors, and local Jewish communities and institutions.

    Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights.

    Participants are required to bring a $250 cash security deposit upon arrival in Israel.

    Acceptance Criteria

    This program is open to young adults, college and post-college, from 19-27 years of age who have NOT spent 3 or more months in Israel as part of an educational or peer-program (this includes semester abroad, gap year or any other MASA or Onward Israel program).

    Fluent in English

    Previous participation in *Taglit-Birthright Israel is encouraged for any eligible applicants.

    *if you haven’t been on a Taglit – Birthright Israel trip, your participation on an Onward Israel program will void your Birthright eligibility.
