Onward Israel Toronto is an immersive internship program for young adults from Ontario. The program offers countless placements in Tel Aviv and other central cities that allow participants to enjoy city life while advancing their career and boosting their resume.

Onward Israel Toronto is a highly subsidized 6-week professional internship program that allows university students and young professionals from the GTA and across Ontario to live it like a local in Israel, work as an intern in a field of their interest and gain professional training and development. Onward Israel Toronto is a unique program that provides the structure as well as the freedom to mold one’s own Israel experience. In addition to the internship, Onward Israel also facilitates cultural evening events, group seminars, and tiyulim (trips) across the country.
Onward Israel Toronto participants live in apartments in Tel Aviv. Enjoy a weekend with peers from around the world at an Onward Israel breakout seminar and explore all that Israel has to offer on free weekends. During your free time, explore Tel Aviv’s exciting nightlife, beaches, foodie scene and culture!
If health and safety conditions allow. If not, the program will shift to being entirely remote. The decision will be made approximately two months before the program’s start date. Please note, if this happens, it will affect the types of internships available. Participants who do not wish to participate on an entirely remote program will be permitted to withdraw and receive a full refund for their program fee.
Note, there is a chance that health/safety conditions will require us to implement a 2 week quarantine upon arrival in Israel. Cost includes housing, insurance, modest food stipend, ground transportation and program costs.
All participants are responsible for cost of and arranging their own flights and additional spending money.
Participants will be required to submit a $275 USD credit card authorization as a participation and security deposit. Deposits will be refunded at the end of the program pending good standing.
The actual cost of the Onward Israel program is much higher, and is subsidized up to 70% by Onward Israel, private donors, and local Jewish communities and institutions. Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights.
This program is open to young adults from the Greater Toronto Area between the ages of 19 and 27 years old. Applicants must NOT have spent 3 or more months in Israel as part of an educational or peer-program (this includes a semester abroad, gap year, or any other Masa or Onward Israel program).
Applicants must be fluent in English.
Previous participation in Taglit-Birthright Israel is encouraged for any eligible applicant.

The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program. In the event that the program needs to shift to be entirely remote, there could be additional limitations on the types of internship placements available. Participants will be asked to be flexible under these circumstances and Onward Israel is committed to making sure participants still have a professional and positive work experience.
