The Onward Israel Fellowship for July 2020

Onward Israel is dedicated first and foremost to the well-being of our participants. With the necessity of cancelling your Onward Israel program, we hope that conditions will allow us to launch the 4 week Onward Israel Fellowship for mid-July 2020. Although we can’t be sure that conditions on the ground will enable us to run the program, we want to make this opportunity available to you at no risk. Your participation fee is fully refundable if we cannot run the program. We will make the decision regarding program implementation on June 10, 2020. The Onward Israel Fellowship in July 2020 will include:
- A four week program in Tel Aviv, providing a venue for both professional development and exploring your connection with Israel
- A special course based on professional development in one of four different professional tracks:
- Business
- Hi-Tech
- Marketing, Branding, & Sales
- Education, Social Services, & Third-Sector Activism
A varied menu of enrichment and educational activities including a shabbat retreat, evening activities, and touring days with special emphasis on encounters with Israelis and learning more about contemporary Israel from multiple perspectives
Please note – Throughout the current global health crisis, Onward Israel has acted with utmost care and concern for the well being of our participants and in conjunction with all health guidelines and directives issued by the Israeli government and its agencies. In this context, we are continuing to monitor all situations and scenarios.
Onward Israel hopes that a return to normalcy is near-approaching and that it will be possible to conduct the July 2020 Fellowship as planned. In the case that the general health situation does not allow Onward Israel to implement the July 2020 fellowship, we will notify you with the detail, transparency, and timing required. Dates
July 15 – August 13, 2020
Cost
$300 – Participants are responsible for the cost and arrangement of their flights to Israel.
Cost includes housing, insurance, modest food stipend, transportation within city, and program costs.
Participation fee is wholly refundable in the event that Onward Israel cannot run the program.
Participants are responsible for the cost of and arrangement of their own flights.
The actual cost of the Onward Israel is much higher, and is subsidized approximately 70% by Onward Israel, private donors, and local Jewish communities and institutions.
In addition, participants will be required to submit a $100 a participation and security deposit. Deposits will be refunded at the end of the program pending good standing.
Accommodations
Apartments or dorm-style housing in Tel Aviv.
The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program.

Travel
Please be advised that travel to Israel will be dependent upon improvement in the current global health crisis. Participants should book travel in light of potential travel issues, and wait for the decision about program viability to do so.. The program fee is fully refundable if the program doesn’t take place. Onward Israel is not responsible for travel costs incurred should the program not take place.
The Onward Israel Fellowship for July 2020 is exclusively for those who have been accepted or who had been in the interview process for an Onward Israel summer 2020 program that was cancelled due to concerns over COVID-19. Those who self withdrew from such a program due to concerns over COVID-19 on March 15, 2020 or later are also eligible to apply.
Applicants may only apply for either Onward Israel the Onward Israel Fellowship for July 2020 or Onward Israel Remote. Applicants may not apply for both programs.
Process
Applications will be open from April 21 until May 15, 2020.
Applications will be screened and based on a variety of factors. A limited number of applicants will be invited to interview as there are a limited number of spots available. Following, an interview, a final decision will be made as soon as possible about your application status and further instructions will be sent from there.
If you are not accepted to the Onward Israel Fellowship for July 2020, you are encouraged to pre-register for our winter 2020 or summer 2021 program. Because the Onward Israel Fellowship for July 2020 does not restrict you from participating in our winter 2020 or summer 2021 programs, those who are accepted are encouraged to pre-register as well.
