OU-JLIC Summer in Jerusalem for Women
OU-JLIC summer in Jerusalem for women is an amazing opportunity for female college students to live, learn and work in Jerusalem. Join us as we create an exciting social and religious summer community in Jerusalem! Come intern during the day and learn Torah at night. Be a part of our beit midrash program at night. This program is designed for women who want to combine their internship with serious Torah learning through classes and lectures from many known teachers around Jerusalem.

Early bird applications will close December 18, 2023, and regular applications will close January 4, 2024.
Who: Religious female college students ages 19-23

When: Wednesday, June 27 – Wednesday Aug 14, 2024
Participants MUST be available to participate for the entire length of the program.
Cost: Early bird rate is $1,250 (apply before December 18, 2023) and regular program rate is $1,500 (apply before applications close on January 4, 2024).
OU-JLIC Summer in Jerusalem for women (SIJW) and Birthright Israel Onward offers a professional internship during the day (4-5 days per week) and a vibrant evening program offering a full array of teachers, social events and learning opportunities.
~JLIC Directors will be directing the program.
~Spend the summer at the Nishmat campus in Jerusalem
~Vibrant Beit Midrash: there is a focus on both chevruta learning and shiurim on a variety of topics with amazing teachers from all across Israel and America. The learning program is accessible for people of all learning backgrounds and skill levels.
~Internship program designed to build your resume and develop work skills. Our professional internship team will find you a great summer internship!
~Fun social programming to explore Jerusalem and build community.
~The remote portion of the program allows participants to reflect on their summer learning about how to bring what they have learned onto their campuses through different speakers and educators.
The program includes
~Housing (including WiFi, AC, laundry facility, and kitchen)
~Health insurance
~Professional and personalized internship placement 4-5 days per week in the field of your choice
~Educational staff and programming
~Trips exploring Israel
~Shabbat Meals and Programming
~ Occasional weeknight dinners
~Rav Kav – Bus pass to get around Jerusalem
This Birthright Israel Onward program is operated through the philanthropic support of leading North American Foundations through the Birthright Israel Foundation, the Government of Israel and the Jewish Agency, along with Orthodox Union – JLIC. It is organized by Orthodox Union – JLIC. Participants will be required to submit a $400 security deposit in advance via credit card. Charges will not be made if participants complete the program in good standing.
Participants are responsible for the cost of flights, food, and phone coverage. To learn about this and other Birthright Israel Onward program details, please visit our FAQ.
*Participants are encouraged to purchase flights with a good refund policy or flight insurance. Birthright Israel Onward is not responsible for the cost of flights should the program be cancelled. Note, participants will be given their expected address approximately two weeks before the program begins, if not earlier.
Scholarships to help offset the program cost may be available to for those who need additional assistance and meet Birthright Israel Onward’s eligibility criteria. For more information, contact Birthright Israel Onward or your local partner professional.
Accommodations: The program will take place at the Nishmat campus in Jerusalem
The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program. Though Birthright Israel Onward housing can vary from program to program, all housing units meet Birthright Israel Onward standards. - Applicants must at least one full year post-high school at the start of the program
- Must be Jewish (please refer to our FAQ for more information)
- Fluent in English
- Have a valid Passport for at least 6 months after the program end date
- Please note: If you wish to participate in a 10-day Birthright Israel trip, consider doing so prior to an Onward program. You will not be able to participate on Birthright Israel trip after participating on Onward. Additionally, participants are not allowed to participate in more than one Birthright Israel Onward program.
