    Hillel Onward Israel participants will be matched with internships that connect to their creative passion and offer real-world experience in unique fields. In addition to living in shared accommodations with other Hillel Onward participants, participants will explore Israel and experience living like a local!

    Develop your professional future and build your resume through a high-level internship side by side with Israeli peers. This tailor-made Jerusalem-based internship program provides you with work experience based on your skills, interests and future plans.  Participants will intern four-five days a week, explore Israel, experience living like a local, and enjoy travel and unique programming opportunities exclusive to our Hillel cohorts.

    Hillel Onward Israel in Jerusalem is an immersive internship program offering resume-building placements in a wide variety of opportunities in the greater Jerusalem area.

    June 12 – August 6, 2019

    Cost
    $600

    Cost includes housing, insurance, modest food stipend, transportation within city, and program costs.

    All participants are responsible for cost of and arranging their own flights.

    Participants will be required to submit a $250 credit card authorization as a participation and security deposit. Deposits will be refunded at the end of the program pending good standing.

    The actual cost of the Onward Israel program is much higher, and is subsidized up to 70% by Onward Israel, private donors, and local Jewish communities and institutions.  All participants are responsible for cost of and arranging their own flights.

    Admission is rolling. Applications will close on March 15, 2019 or earlier if the program fills.

    This Onward Israel program is operated through a partnership between the Beacon and Shapira Foundations and other leading philanthropists, Hillel International, The Jewish Agency for Israel and Masa Israel Journey. It is organized by Israel Experience.

    Accommodations
    The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program.

    Acceptance Criteria

    • Open to Jewish undergraduate students on North American campuses who have had one previous short-term Israel Experience: Birthright or a teen travel program
    • Preference for the Hillel International program will be given to students at the following campuses, where the Hillel has formally committed to recruit:
      • Michigan State University
      • University of Delaware
      • University of Maryland
      • University of Texas at Austin
      • University of Virginia
      • Virginia Tech
    • A limited number of spaces are available to students who are active at Hillels on campuses not listed above. To find more opportunities for students from other campuses, click here.
    • Priority will be given to students returning to campus

    Masa-eligible participants in programs which are part of the Onward/Masa partnership may qualify for additional scholarships. For more information, call Onward Israel or your local partner professional.

    Participants on Onward Israel programs that are run in partnership with Masa may return to Israel on long-term Masa programs after Onward Israel. They may also be eligible for additional scholarships from Masa to help fund their participation, although the size of that scholarship may be influenced by prior participation on Onward Israel.
