The George Washington University Hillel Onward Israel program in the bustling start-up city of Tel Aviv offers you the opportunity to develop your professional future and build your resume through a high-level internship experience. Participants will get to live with other GW students on top of travel and learn throughout the experience. In addition, there will be Israel Seminar Days throughout your time in Israel, amongst other activities devoted to learning about Israeli society, economy, technology and more, plus one weekend retreat with other Onward Israel participants from North America and the world. They have the freedom to live in and explore Israel in a more independent way than just visiting Israel on a trip focused on touring.

If health and safety conditions in Israel do not allow for the program to take place not, the program will shift to being entirely remote. The decision will be made approximately 2 months before the program begins. Please note, if this happens, it will affect the types of internships available. Participants who do not wish to participate on an entirely remote program will be permitted to withdraw and receive a full refund for their program fee.

This Onward Israel – Masa program is operated through a partnership between the Beacon and Shapira Foundations and other leading philanthropists, and Masa Israel Journey. It is organized by IGT. Participants on Onward Israel programs that are run in partnership with Masa may return to Israel on long-term Masa programs after Onward Israel although the size of any potential scholarship may be influenced by prior participation on Onward Israel. For details please contact Masa Israel Journey directly.

    Acceptance Criteria

Applicants between 19-27 years old (or at least one full year post-high school at the start of the program)

This program is open to young adults from George Washington University with an interest in interning with the field that compliments what they are studying. This program is ideally for students who have had one previous short-term Israel experience – such as Birthright Israel or a teen travel program – and for students who have a strong desire to be part of a GW student cohort and meet other GW students.

    Accomodations
Apartment or dorm-style housing in Tel Aviv. The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program. While meeting common standards, Onward Israel housing differs by and within each program. To learn more about this and other Onward Israel housing details, please visit our housing FAQ.
