Develop your professional future and build your resume through a high-level internship in the field of your choice in Tel Aviv. This tailor-made internship program places you in a work place based on your skills, interests and future plans.  Experience Israel through exclusive day trips, overnights, seminars, and more. In your free time, explore Tel Aviv’s amazing nightlife, culture, and rich history with a cohort of other young adults.

If health and safety conditions allow. If not, the program will shift to being entirely remote. The decision will be made approximtately two months before the program’s start date. Please note, if this happens, it will affect the types of internships available. Participants who do not wish to participate on an entirely remote program will be permitted to withdraw and receive a full refund for their program fee.

    Important Information

Cost includes housing, modest food stipend, insurance, local transportation and program costs.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights.  Participants will be required to submit a $225 credit card authorization as a participation and security deposit.

The actual cost of the Onward Israel – Masa program is much higher, and is subsidized up to 70% by Onward Israel, private donors, Masa Israel Journey, and local Jewish communities and institutions.

Note, there is a chance that health/safety conditions will require us to implement a 2 week quarantine upon arrival in Israel. There is also a chance that the program will shift to entirely remote if travel is restricted past a 2 week quarantine upon arrival. For more information, visit our FAQ responding to COVID-19

Rolling admissions through March 15, 2021 or earlier if the program is full.

Additional scholarships for those who require additional financial assistance are available on a limited basis. For more information, call Onward Israel or your local partner professional.

Participants on Onward Israel – Masa programs may return to Israel on long-term Masa programs after Onward Israel. They may also be eligible for additional scholarships from Masa to help fund their participation, although the size of that scholarship may be influenced by prior participation on Onward Israel. For details, please contact Masa Israel Journey directly at masainfo@masaisrael.org.

    Acceptance Criteria

Open to students attending university in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont, or who grew up in Massachusetts. Ideally for students who have had one previous short-term Israel experience – such as Birthright Israel or a teen travel program.

The Boston Onward Israel program has cohorts in three Israeli cities: Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tel Aviv. We do our best to place you in the city you have applied for, but please note that based on rolling admissions and internship placement preferences, it may be necessary to be placed in one of the other cities.

Participants will live in Tel Aviv University dorms in the Ramat Aviv neighborhood, in the same complex as young Jews from around the world and Israeli students.  Ramat Aviv is where Golda Meir lived for the last years of her life, and today boasts both the famous Museum of the Jewish People as well as Israel’s fanciest shopping mall.  It is a 20 minute bus ride from the center of Tel Aviv (without traffic).

The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program.  While meeting common standards, Onward Israel housing differs by program and even within a program. To learn more about this and other Onward Israel housing details, please visit our housing FAQ.

This Onward Israel – Masa program is operated through a partnership between the Beacon and Shapira Foundations and other leading philanthropists, the Government of Israel, Masa Israel Journey, The Jewish Agency for Israel and Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston and is organized by Israel Experience.
