Bay Area Hybrid Summer Internship
Are you seeking a high-level internship, in your desired field, with an Israeli company? Are you seeking to enhance your professional and personal relationship with Israel and your Jewish identity this summer? You can join other Jewish young adults from universities and campuses across the Bay Area through a 10-week immersive internship program! In your first six-weeks you’ll experience, living, connecting, and working in Israel and the last four-weeks working with your employer remotely.
The Onward Israel Hybrid program in Tel Aviv offers you the opportunity to develop your professional future, build your resume through a high-level internship, and the ability to build upon the connections from your next destination.
While in Israel, you will intern four to five days a week alongside Israeli peers and immerse yourself in contemporary Israeli society. You’ll experience Israel through Onward Israel’s exclusive day trips, overnights and seminars. In your free time, explore Israel’s amazing restaurants, beaches, and nightlife with a cohort of other young adults from the Bay Area region. We provide the platform for you to explore and think about the ways you can integrate, contribute and make your experience as fulfilling as possible while in Israel.
During the Remote portion, you will keep working with your employer, compile a final project, and continue your connection with your cohort through distance learning and activities. You’ll have the flexibility to end your summer adventure from home, school, or wherever you are returning and gain critical skills of how to best work remotely.
This Onward Israel program is operated through a partnership between the Beacon and Shapira Foundations and other leading philanthropists. It is organized by Bina.
Admission on a rolling-basis. Applications will close in March or earlier if the program fills. Apply now!
Tel Aviv portion: Wednesday, June 23 – Tuesday, August 3, 2021 *Tentative*
Remote portion: Sunday, August 8 – Thursday, September 2, 2021 *Tentative*
You MUST be available to participate for the entire length of the program.
Note, there is a chance that health/safety conditions will require us to implement 2-week quarantine upon arrival in Israel. There is also a chance that the program will shift to entirely remote if travel is restricted past 2 week quarantine upon arrival. For more information, visit our FAQ responding to COVID-19
The program cost includes housing, medical insurance, a modest food stipend, and ground transportation.
Participants will be required to submit a $200 security deposit in cash or check upon arrival in Israel. Deposits will be refunded at the end of the program pending good standing.
All participants are responsible for the cost and arrangement of their own flights. Participants should not purchase your flights until a decision has been made about the viability of the program.
If health and safety conditions in Israel do not allow for the program to take place on the ground in Israel, the program will shift to being entirely remote. The decision will be made in April 2021. Please note, if this happens, it will affect the types of internships available. Participants who do not wish to participate on an entirely remote program will be permitted to withdraw and receive a full refund for their program fee.
*If this becomes an entirely remote program, the program cost will change to reflect this shift in expenses. The program cost will be $150 and the difference will be refunded.
Israel portion: Apartments or dorm-style housing in the Tel Aviv area.
The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program.

Participants will be paired with an Israeli company or organization and assigned work projects to complete over the course of the program. It is expected that participants complete their work projects during the designated dates of the program and fully participate in all required enrichment and education activities.
