AUJS Academy Onward
From the hustle and bustle of Jerusalem city streets to the serenity of the Galil, from the colourful Tel Aviv nightlife to the beauty of the desert, and from Middle Eastern culture to exploring the historical heart of the land, AUJS Academy Onward Israel is the perfect short-term school leaver program.
Academy is the ideal short-term Israel program. On AUJS Academy Onward, participants will spend time in the cities of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Eilat, Tiberius and Tzfat. They will visit prominent sites including the Old City of Jerusalem, Masada, Independence Hall, the Supreme Court and Rabin Square; and experience the Bedouin, Druze and Kibbutz cultures.
Participants will discover the natural wonders of Israel by floating in the Dead Sea, snorkelling in the Eilat reefs and hiking through the Golan. They will also enjoy volunteering at different Israeli organisations, taking in the incredibly fun Israeli nightlife, meeting Israelis their own age and making lifelong friends.
Stream 1: Israel Starter-Pack
Whether this is your first visit to Israel, or you’re a returning customer keen to tour and explore, this is the track for you. This track includes all of the must-see sites, educational programs, as well as a behind the scenes view of the Israeli culture and landscape. Participants of this track will also participate in an ‘options week’ to immerse themselves in an area of their interest (see FAQs for more information).

Stream 2: Israel+
This track is ideal for those returning to Israel or looking for an immersive short-term program. With reduced touring, this track includes a 20-day internship at an office of your choice (applications allowing). From start-ups to hospitals or event planning… the opportunities are endless!
Israel+ participants will learn what it is like to work and live in Israel, whilst gaining life skills in an area of their interest through their immersive internship. One the weekends – and throughout the program – both tracks will join up for big-ticket Israel sight-seeing!
Independent living, cultural immersion and a tangible life-experience are what’s on offer for participants of this track.

AUJS Academy Onward Israel is run in conjunction with the Zionist Federation of Australia and Onward Israel.
Flights are included in the cost of AUJS Academy Onward Israel. Applications close on Monday, 22 October 2018 at 5:00 pm (AEST). Applications may (at the sole discretion of AUJS) be accepted after this time.

Cost
$6000 AUD
Includes: Flights, accommodation, food transport and all other tour costs while on the program.
Excludes: Travel insurance, sim cards (specific information will be provided) and personal expenses over the free weekend, free days and free time.
This program is open to all 17* – 21-year-old school leaver and university students from Australia and New Zealand.
Previous participation in an Israel program does not exclude participants from this program.
*17-year-olds must have completed high school in the year of their application
Accommodations
Israel+ participants will stay in apartments in the Tel Aviv area. Israel Starter Pack participants will stay in a variety of dorm-style housing throughout the country.
The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program.

Possible internships include:
• Teaching at a local refugee centre
• Marketing roles at a local NGO or start-up
• Research or intern positions at a local government organization
• Writer or content contributor roles at a media agency
